During caries removal, the laser removes only the infected portion of the dental surface without affecting the surrounding healthy tissue. The tissue is removed a few microns at a time, allowing maximum operational control over the treatment area. The laser vaporizes the caries and reduces it to fine powder, which the dentist can easily eliminate without using more invasive instruments.

The absence of vibrations prevents the formation of microfractures that could weaken the tooth structure, and the wavelength selectivity of the laser with the target tissue avoids damage to pulp cells, ensuring better preservation of adjacent tissues. The laser’s bactericidal effect decontaminates the affected dentin layer, reducing the risk of future complications.

Compared to traditional acid etching methods, the laser allows for optimal and controlled enamel preparation for aesthetic dentistry procedures such as veneer preparation, bracket application, fissure sealing, and restorations.
